This handwoven textile is made from entirely from golden silk, a traditional Thai silk. Silkworms are raised and hand-reeled in rural Thailand. Carefully woven in our studio. Its matte sheen and uneven hand-reeled texture give it a primitive elegance.
The yarn is dyed to this dark, nearly black grey shade through multiple applications of Tropical Almond leaf dye, followed by a layer of ebony dye. The color possesses a complex depth, revealing a subtle brown undertone beneath the dominant deep grey.
